INDECOPI’s organizational structure answers to the need of presenting a unified message for promoting fair and honest competition in the market, while preserving the functional autonomy of the agencies responsible for applying and enforcing specific regulations. Thus, it is possible to identify the following groups: The Board of Directors, Functional and Economic Agencies and the Administration.
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is the highest administrative body. It is presided over by its Chairman, who bears the legal representation of the institution. The Board establishes INDECOPI’s general policies, manages the image of the institution and heads the dissemination and communication work.
The Board has the support of an Advisory Council made up by outstanding and prestigious members of diverse public and private sectors related to INDECOPI’s role.
The results of this permanent task are the inputs for the daily work of Commissions, Offices and INDECOPI’s Courts and help in the preparation of the institution’s policy agenda.
Functional Agencies
These agencies promote regulations that enable the right development of economic agents in the market safeguarding that their performance is aimed towards the respect of consumers’ rights, fair and honest competition regulations and all forms of intellectual property.
Administration
The administrative function is directly executed by a General Management and other Managements. The institution is designed however to safeguard the administrative autonomy of functional agencies. Thus, decisions adopted have a technical and autonomous nature.
